The scenery and riding over the last two days have been a bit anti-climactic after the beauty of central Oregon. The trip today to Boise crossed the Idaho line at the start of the day and went through what is now the usual combination of dry scrub and rich farms where irrigation was possible.
Boise has the look of a growing place with suburban sprawl extending 15 miles out but some attractive older neighborhoods in what we could see during our ride into town. We'll get to see more on our rest day tomorrow.
The day started warm and finished hot with a perfectly clear sky and very strong sun. Luckily, we finished the ride by about 1:30 when it was only 92 degrees as it hit 98 later in the day.
After feeling great all week, today's ride was very tiring. Maybe it was the heat, maybe riding over 600 miles in eight days caught up with me but I will be glad to have a day off.
