Day 35--Fond Du Lac WI to Manitowoc WI--July 25th
Miles Ridden 57.2
Avg. Speed 15.1 MPH
Climbing 1350 Ft.
Total Miles Ridden 2565
Miles To Go 1064
At home, a 57 mile ride would be a considerable workout. On this trip we now consider it almost a rest day. Today's ride through miles of farmland was short and everything went well. We started late and just about everyone rode at a relaxed pace.
Tomorrow is an unofficial day off. We ride three miles to the dock in Manitowoc for a 1:00 PM ferry trip to Ludington Michigan and then four miles to the motel there. The ferry takes four hours and we lose an hour as we enter into the eastern time zone.
The short mileage served a lot of us as a reminder of the upcoming eating crisis we will be facing when we stop burning thousands of extra calories every day. Despite at least doubling my normal food intake, I think I've lost some weight and am down a couple of notches on my belt. Maybe I'll start winding down the calories tomorrow.
